Terms of Use

Last updated: October 12, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Cinevi iOS app and website, provided by the Cinevi development team ("Cinevi," "we," "us"). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy. By using Cinevi, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. About Cinevi

Cinevi helps you organize films and television shows you want to watch, are watching, or have watched, together with personal ratings, dates, notes, tags, collections, and viewing statistics. Some features require Pro membership or an external service.

Cinevi does not provide film streaming, film downloads, or a license to watch copyrighted media. Availability of film information, online services, and particular features may vary by region, device, and operating system.

You must be able to agree to these terms under the law applicable to you. If parental or guardian permission is required, obtain it before using the service.

2. App license and intellectual property

Your App Store license is governed by the Apple Standard End User License Agreement, unless a separate custom license is expressly provided through the App Store. These service terms supplement that license and do not replace Apple's usage rules.

You may use Cinevi for personal purposes on Apple devices you own or control, subject to the applicable license. The app's software, branding, and original design remain the property of their respective owners. Third-party film artwork and information remain subject to their owners' rights. No ownership of the app or third-party content is transferred to you.

3. Acceptable use

Use Cinevi lawfully and respect the rights of other people and service providers. Do not attempt unauthorized access, bypass security or membership verification, interfere with service operation, distribute malicious content, or use the app to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.

Do not redistribute the app, remove proprietary notices, or copy, modify, or reverse engineer protected software except where the applicable license or law permits it. Import only information you are entitled to access and use; an import feature does not grant permission to bypass another service's restrictions.

4. Your records and backups

You retain your rights in the ratings, notes, and other original content you create. Cinevi does not automatically publish your journal to other users. If you choose synchronization, export, or sharing, the relevant content is processed or sent as needed to carry out that choice.

You are responsible for the information you enter and for checking imported records. Keep backups before uninstalling the app, changing devices, or making significant data changes. Sync is a convenience and should not be treated as the only backup. Deleting local data may not remove exported files, backups, or copies held by external services.

5. Third-party services and content

Film titles, posters, descriptions, release dates, and public ratings may come from services including TMDB and Douban. This information may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate. Third-party content does not imply endorsement of Cinevi by the provider.

Apple, iCloud, Trakt, Douban, and other external services have their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for managing your accounts and authorizations. Their availability, network access, and changes to their services can affect search, import, and synchronization. You can disable optional synchronization or disconnect Trakt in the app.

6. Pro membership and payments

Pro may be offered as a recurring subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. The available plan, included features, billing period, price, and offer conditions are those shown in the app and Apple's purchase confirmation at the time of purchase. The currency and actual purchase price follow your App Store region; changing the app's language does not set the payment currency.

Apple processes payment through your Apple Account. Recurring subscriptions renew unless canceled under Apple's subscription rules. You can manage or cancel them in your Apple Account subscription settings; see Apple's cancellation instructions. Uninstalling Cinevi or disconnecting an external account does not cancel an Apple subscription.

A lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase of the Pro access included in that product, without a recurring renewal charge. It does not include paid services sold separately by third parties. If you upgrade from a subscription to lifetime access, manage or cancel the existing subscription with Apple to avoid further subscription charges.

Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account used for the purchase to restore eligible access. Refund requests and billing issues are handled under Apple's policies and applicable law. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer rights.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains local storage, optional synchronization, film information requests, permissions, support, and data choices. Connecting an external account or sharing a file also involves the provider you choose.

8. Availability and warranties

We aim to keep Cinevi useful and reliable, but do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or complete accuracy of third-party information. Network outages, external services, and device or operating system changes may affect features.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app and website are provided as available, without additional warranties beyond those required by law or expressly provided to you. This does not exclude any statutory guarantee, required standard of care, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Responsibility and liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses caused by misuse, an external service, or failure to maintain appropriate backups. Any limitation applies only where legally permitted and does not remove responsibility or rights that applicable law makes non-excludable.

You remain responsible for your own unlawful use of the app and for harm you cause by violating another person's rights. These terms do not impose liability on you where applicable consumer law prohibits it.

10. Changes and ending use

We may update features or these terms as the service develops or legal requirements change. Updated terms will be published here with a revised date, with additional notice where required. Material changes affecting an existing purchase remain subject to your applicable rights.

You may stop using Cinevi at any time. Export records you need, manage any cloud or external copies, and cancel recurring subscriptions separately. We may restrict online access where reasonably necessary to prevent unlawful use, abuse, or security threats, subject to applicable law.

11. Applicable rights and contact

Applicable law governs the interpretation and enforceability of these service terms. Nothing here restricts any mandatory protection or right to use the courts or complaint procedures available to you under that law. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent allowed by law.
